Rational Transitions is a project that designs an alternative vision for a building and its connection to its immediate surroundings based on existing components. The design studio in which the design was developed was led by Michał Długajczyk and Mahaut Dael (md-2 architects) and Caspar Frenken.
The design focuses on representative transitions in the building; the interventions are subtle and aim to make the transitions more palpable, clear and uncluttered. This is achieved through four design methods: adding height differences, connecting through the use of materials, symmetrical compositions and creating contrast through light and dark.
